Figure 1
shows open
truck bed of 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 with GM bed rail caps.
Note that the
stake pocket hole access cover has been removed.
|
 |
Figure 2
shows
inside detail of stake pocket hole, on the inboard or bed side.
Note that the stake
pocket is boxed in by sheet metal. The overhanging formed lip of the bed rail is
usually clear from the top edge of this sheet metal box.
If not, the sheet metal can be forced away from the
formed lip by strong thumb pressure – providing clearance for the
Han-D-Ring clamp.
In the photo shown here, this was not
necessary. |
 |
Figure 3 shows
inside details of stake pocket hole, on the outboard or fender side.
Note
that the sheet metal box is very close to the overhanging formed lip of the bed
rail and is usually clear from the top edge of this sheet metal box.
If not, the sheet metal can be forced away from the formed lip by
strong thumb pressure – providing clearance for the
Han-D-Ring clamp.
In the photo shown here, this was not
necessary. |
 |
Figure 4 shows Han-D-Ring® being installed into
stake pocket hole.
The Han-D-Ring must be angled to insert into stake pocket hole, allowing edge of
clamp to get under formed lip of bed rail.
Once the clamp is under the lip of the bed rail, position the Han-D-Ring over to
allow the opposite edge of the clamp to drop into the stake pocket hole. |
 |
Figure 5
shows Han-D-Ring®
both edges of the clamp in correct position under the bed rail.
Due to the inner sheet metal box of the stake pocket hole, you may have to hold
the Han-D-Ring in this position, while tightening the mounting screws, to ensure
the clamp stays in the correct position. |
